People have sex for pleasure, reproduction, or both. Pregnancy happens when an egg and sperm successfully meet through intercourse or in vitro fertilization. What do they look like, and how many do we all have?

Low sperm count means that the fluid semen you ejaculate during an orgasm contains fewer sperm than normal. A low sperm count is also called oligospermia ol-ih-go-SPUR-me-uh. A complete absence of sperm is called azoospermia. Your sperm count is considered lower than normal if you have fewer than 15 million sperm per milliliter of semen.
Sperm motility refers to how well the sperm in a given semen sample are moving and it is one of the parameters looked at in a semen analysis. Natural conception and pregnancy cannot happen if sperm are unable to move. Not all the sperm have to be able to move, though.
