MISSION :: Character Education is a national movement creating schools that foster ethical, responsible, and caring young people by modeling and teaching good character through an emphasis on universal values that we all share. It is the intentional, proactive effort by schools, districts, and states to instill in their students important core, ethical, and civic values such as respect, responsibility, integrity, perseverance, courage, justice, and self-discipline. Character education's long-term solutions address moral, ethical, and academic issues that are of growing concern about our society and the safety of our schools.
The program equips children and young adults of all backgrounds with the qualities necessary for a happy childhood leading to a rewarding adult life. The qualities which bring true peace and happiness are universal ones: respect, generosity, perseverance, integrity and responsibility. The Anti-Prejudice Consortium works to fight prejudice, increase tolerance and promote respect among all people.
